The first big party event of the fall / winter season is Halloween aka All Saints’ or Hallowmas . A celebration of the crack in time between fall and winter. Trick or treating symbolizes the gathering of harvest for the upcoming long winter nights. Wearing of costumes was to ward off evil spirits, goblins and ghosts.
